The organizing committee, Joanne Harris – Rideau Community Health Services, Mayor David Nash, Brendan Mullen – Grenville OPP, Cathy Ashby – House of Lazarus, Bonnie Pidgeon – South Grenville Food Bank and Susan Wilkes – Merrickville Lions Club can’t wait to see everyone out again this year for another fantastic show!
The Holiday Train rolls into town this coming Monday November 27th at 4:45pm, at the East Broadway & County Road 2 tracks.
It is with the help of all that come out with their donations of healthy food choices and/or cash donations to enjoy this family friendly night, kicking off the holiday season, that make it possible for those of us offering services at community food cupboards and food banks to provide families in need with the necessary resources.
The organizing committee would like to thank CP Holiday train organizers for another opportunity to participate in this truly worthwhile and enjoyable event, the Public Works Department for the Village of Merrickville Wolford, 1st Merrickville Guiding unit, Fulford Prep students, RCHS board members, Lions volunteers, area Food Bank volunteers and community volunteers, this event would not be possible without their dedication the night of the trains arrival.
There will be peace of mind again this year knowing that OPP and Auxiliary officers will be in attendance with vehicles and personnel strategically placed to deal with the large number of people who attend this fabulous event. CP Police in partnership with the OPP manage the crowds around the train, which ensure the safety of everyone who attend this magical evening to make it both safe and enjoyable.
Additional support is provided by Campbell’s Sanitation who donate the port-a-potties, Yellow Canoe for continuing to supply thousands of cups of hot chocolate, McDonalds Kemptville for supplying coffee, cups and condiments and Carol the manager of Uncle Festers chip wagon for allowing us to use the property and donating part of their proceeds from the evening.
The CP Holiday Train Committee looks forward to seeing everyone on Monday night to enjoy the arrival of the colourful train that mean so much to so many people in our community. See you there!
