Abby Shipclark, 9, receives her gift from Santa Claus

The Kemptville branch of Big Brothers Big Sisters Leeds and Grenville held their 6th annual Christmas celebration at Geronimo Coffee House on Sunday afternoon.

The coffee shop was packed with kids, parents and staff enjoying a home-cooked holiday meal, complete with turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and a snowman cake.
The Christmas tree was laden with presents donated by the community through the four local banks. The kids were very excited as the afternoon’s special guest, Santa Claus, handed out their presents.

Nine-year-old Abby Shipclark was all smiles as she received her present which included three Barbies from the Disney movie Frozen. She says she loves being a part of Big Brothers Big Sisters, because going to all the activities they offer are lots of fun.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a mentorship program for children of all backgrounds, says Leanne Trimble Cadieux, the Director of Strategic Initiatives for the organization. “It’s a great place for any child to hang out.”
