Girls Incorporated of Upper Canada is pleased to announce that the Strong, Smart and Bold Women of the Year Event held on June 1 at the Brockville Convention Centre raised over $10,000, which will be invested in local programs and workshops that inspire and empower girls across Leeds-Grenville.

Our Celebration featured Girls Inc. activities and reinforced the idea that when we work together to support the girls and women in our lives – we all win. The event celebrated the five women below for being dynamic, inspiring community leaders in their own unique way.

Sue Watts, Executive Director of the EEC and community volunteer; Jane Dargie, Educator, volunteer and quiet leader; Carol Casselman, UCDSB Facilities Service Manager and community champion; Mary Rae Knapp, former Farmer/Insurance Broker, active volunteer and cancer survivor; and Kelly McKinnon, Plant Manager of Shell Lubricants, fund-raiser and volunteer.

Thank you to all our sponsors, donors, volunteers, our fantastic MC Shelli Warren, our photographer Andrew Kizell, our inspiring honourees, and our Girls Inc. girls – who inspire us to work stronger, smarter and bolder each and every day!
